The Neuroscience of Touch (and Why Print is Still Very Much Alive)

May 31, 2016

Since we’re in the printing and graphic design business — a business where we produce materials that are not only beautiful to observe and read, but can be quite memorable when touching — we offer you this post on the “neuroscience of touch“ and views from one of the word’s leading neuroscientists. Our aim is to give you, our clients and readers, a greater sense as to (1) why investing in hard-copy, printed materials makes sense and (2) why the materials they choose to print on really does make a difference in how memorable your project is over time. We won’t give you every little detail in this post but we’ll provide a few links so that you can read on if you’re even more interested.

Best Practices in Producing and GIVING Business Cards

May 5, 2016

Nice to Meet You! Encantada de conocerte! Ravi de vous rencontrer! Hěn gāoxìng rènshí nǐ

When meeting a new business colleague in a professional or social setting in the U.S., it’s common to offer them your business card so that they know where to reach you to continue your conversation, partner together on a deal or utilize each others products or services. In the States, the business card is quite often neglected as a small, rectangular piece of paper that’s tossed on the table in front of the intended recipient after lunch or a drink – and then its quickly glanced at by the receiver before being stuffed into his or her pocket. How dare us Americans disrespect the practice of properly giving a business card as others do internationally!?!

Planning and Executing the Perfect Trade Show or Conference Experience

April 25, 2016

When you think of going to a conference or a trade show in New York City, what comes to mind? Walking around a cavernous exhibit space — big enough to land a 747 – to review all of the booth displays, while dodging trade exhibits and pop-up displays? Talking to exhibitors about their products or services (and taking all of the cool promo items they have on display…stress relieving ball anyone?) Trying to make conversation without glancing down at the person’s name badge too often so as to make them aware you weren’t really listening when they introduced yourself? Ha. Tasting free samples?

Surprising Masters Finish, Planning for This Years’ Corporate Golf Outings, and the History of the Most Famous Green Jacket in the World

April 11, 2016

In what was expected to be a sure back-to-back win for Jordan Spieth, the 2015 winner of the Masters, the last nine holes at this years 80th tournament proved to be too much for the 22-year-old to handle. Spieth’s epic demise in the final hours of the 2016 Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, Georgia — complete with two “water balls” leading to a quadruple bogie on the 12th hole par 3 — opened the door for a new champion, England’s 28-year-old, Danny Willett.

Spring is Here. Gardening is Over-rated. Baseball isn’t!

March 28, 2016

Notice the crisp, bite in the air? Feel the sunshine warming your face? Hear the birds chirping in the trees? See the flowers peeking out of your garden? Yup, it’s that time of the year again folks. Grab your Miracle Grow, dust off the weed whacker, find your gardening tools…and, just like every Spring before, put them in a nice, neat corner in your garage and LET’S GET READY FOR SOME FOOTBASEBALL!

Spring training is nearly over and baseball players across the country are packing their bags to return to their home stadiums. The Grapefruit and Cactus Leagues will very soon merge back into their “adult” American and National Leagues, and teams will begin fine-tuning their sights on the October postseason.
